Despite the full-band sound and layered vocal harmonies, it happens to be a solo pop project by Philadelphian Andy States, and “was brought to life in the walk-in closet of a crowded inner city loft.” His home recorded demos were heard by Jeremy Park, rising producer of Youth Lagoon’s blockbuster The Year of Hibernation, who then offered to produce this EP.

*I had to go to My Brightest Diamond by myself

*I had to take public transport

*And whilst on public transport I dropped my packet of chips all over the floor on the train. ‘

*’Look at this n00b” the passengers probably whispered to themselves, ”I remember the first time I ate a packet of Thins Originals on a Metro operated train service”

*My Brightest Diamond was so amazing though

*She is ridiculously beautiful and GREAT

*There was this old couple making out in front of me the whole time though

*Which was arousing

*I hate tall people

*The train was late

*So I missed my connecting train and had to stay in the city all night because my parents were sick and I couldn’t get them to pick me up

*So I went to Fed Square and walked around for 4 and a half hours

*Watching the 7.30 report at 3am is bizarrely entertaining

*Then these security guards came and ejected me

*They said ‘they had been watching me on the monitors for hours’

*I told them there was no need to thank me

*They didn’t find it very funny

*They said i had been acting ‘suspiciously’

*Then they asked if I had been “taking illicit drugs such as ecstasy”

*Because my idea of fun is clearly to take Class A drugs alone in the city and walk around Federation Square for hours
